How to disable Java console

Despite it's age Java is still widely used but still has one annoyance for the end user... its console. This revised guide will show you how to disable it on multiple versions of windows.

Windows XP and older

  1. Press start button
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Click Switch to Classic View
  4. Double click on Java
  5. Click on the Advanced tab
  6. Click the + beside Java console
  7. Select the Do not start console
  8. Click Apply
  9. Click OK
  10. Restart any open browser windows

Windows Vista

  1. Press start orb
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Click Classic View
  4. Double click on Java
  5. Click on the Advanced tab
  6. Click the + beside Java console
  7. Select the Do not start console
  8. Click Apply
  9. Click OK
  10. Restart any open browser windows

Windows 7

  1. Press start orb
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. In View By dropdown select one of the icon options
  4. Click on Java
  5. Click on the Advanced tab
  6. Click the + beside Java console
  7. Select the Do not start console
  8. Click Apply
  9. Click OK
  10. Restart any open browser windows
